Pounds for Peace

Miami Friends Meeting is embarking on a capital fund drive to raise money to establish a Quaker Center for Peace and Social Justice in their property at Bartram House.

At this time our Center houses The Bilingual Cooperative Pre-School, a school for 2-5 year old children run by teachers, parents, and a Spanish instructor; The Non-Violence Project, an award winning organization that focuses on significantlychanging the attitudes of youth toward violence; and The National Farm Workers Ministry, an interfaith organization whichsupports farm workers as the organize for justice.

One of our fund raisers is Pounds for Peace. The concept is simple, use the attached form to sign up friends and relatives todonate $1/pound to the Quaker Center for Peace and Social Justice for each pound you lose. Copy it off the screen and paste it into your favorite word processor. When you have lost the pounds use the Pounds for Peace Letter to send to your sponsors.

We invite friends to join us in losing pounds for peace.

Thanks for helping.
